John Krambeck, 99-1/2, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, IL, after an extended illness. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26th, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., a graveside service will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. John Nicholas Krambeck was born in Silvis, IL, on January 21, 1912, to Henry and Esther (Fagestrom) Krambeck. On June 29, 1940, in Moline, he married Zeura E. Hamm. This year they celebrated 70 years of marriage. John was employed at the former John Deere Spreader Works in East Moline, for 36 years, retiring in 1972. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1931 to 1933, and had his private pilots license in 1937 and 1938. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Moline, he bowled on the John Deere Bowling League, and he was an avid photographer. In addition to his wife, Zeura, survivors include: two sons: Gary (Barbara) Krambeck of Denver, CO, and Tim Krambeck of Moline; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and three brothers.
