Joe Edward Qualls

Joe Qualls, 73, of Moline, IL, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. According to his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be Thursday, January 14th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 15th, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be left with David Burke. Joe Edward Qualls was born in Caraway, AR, on October 30, 1936, to John and Rose (Kellick) Qualls. In 1957, in Moline, he married Carolyn Richenberg. Later, on August 10, 1985, in Palm Springs, CA, he married Cindy Carlson. He graduated from Moline High School with the Class of 1955, and served in the U.S. Air Force during Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life, and worked for Freed Heating in Moline before retiring in 2002. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, enjoyed NASCAR, local stockcar races, and football, and he loved his two dogs. Survivors include: two daughters: Tracy Qualls-Allen of Newman Lake, WA, and Tammy Qualls-Cudney of Spokane, WA; two sons: David Burke and Jeff Qualls, both of Moline; a sister: Elaine Kester of Moline; two nieces: Kelli Prunty, and Denise Reedy; a nephew: Tom Reedy; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
