Joanne M Gordon

Joanne M. Gordon, 68, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Unity Point - Trinity in Rock Island.

Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be Friday, May 6, 2022, at 1:00 pm., with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL.

Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Joanne M. Hess was born in Chicago, IL, on January 23, 1954, to Fred and Helen (Coughline) Hess. She met the love of her life, Daniel J. Gordon Sr., in 1975, and they were married on August 7, 1976.

Joanne grew up in Schiller Park. After graduating from Mother Guerin High School, she went to college to further her education and earned her bachelor's degree. She worked as a patient manager and retired in 2015 from New Choices.

Joanne raised six children and helped raise thirty grandchildren. She traveled the world, living in NC, IA, IL, and Wurzburg, Germany, and loved art, dancing, painting, hiking, camping, cooking, never sitting still, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Joanne also enjoyed traveling long distances, going to theme parks and movie theatres, and always taking her kids. She was always helping everyone else, even if they didn't notice.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel; children: Danielle (Roger) Gordon, Thomas (Shawna) Gordon, Michelle (Nathan) Nissen, Teresa Gordon, Patrick Gordon, and Daniel Jr. (Ashly) Gordon; thirty-plus grandchildren; siblings: Steve (Jenette) Hess, Allen (Rosemary) Gordon, Melville (Lonni) Gordon, and Hazel Gordon; several nieces and nephews, including Chris Gordon, and Bob Bohannon; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Delpha Gordon, and in-laws, Allen and Isabelle Gordon.
