Joane Kay Kline, 73, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 17 th , at 10 am, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 9 am. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Joane was born in Moline on November 20, 1944, to Paul Nathan and Anna Lorraine (Sill) Branham. In 1969, she married Gary Potter Heitman, and later married Kenneth Wilson Kline in 1985. She graduated from Western Michigan University, and worked as a teacher in the Rock Island school system for 35 years, retiring in 2005. She taught Language Arts, and served as Drama Coach. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church in Moline, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and a local Red Hat Society. Joane enjoyed service projects, reading, and mentoring. Survivors include sons, Gary Allen (Faith) Heitman of Davenport, IA, and David Karl Heitman of Columbia, MO; a step-daughter, Jessica (Dean) Kline Radcliffe; a sister, Barbara Ann Novak of East Moline, IL; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Branham, her mother, Anna Lincke, her step-father, Allen Lincke, and two sisters, Carol Gifford and Gloria Jackson.
