Joan Fredricks, 77, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, October 4, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 14th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Cremation rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, October 15th, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Quad-City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL. Joan Weaver was born in Milan, IL, on February 27, 1933, to Raymond and Marie "Toodie" (Murphy) Weaver. On September 3, 1954, in Baltimore, MD, she married William A. Fredricks, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2001. She was a Registered Nurse, and was employed for 44 years at several local hospitals, retiring in 1996. Joan enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, reading, cooking and entertaining. She loved her family, friends, and pets, and had traveled around the world. She impressed all who knew her with her courage, strength, and loyalty. Survivors include: two daughters: Kimberly (Thomas) Kirschbaum of Davenport, IA, and Shelley (Rocky Nosa) Fredricks of Gallatin, TN; a grandson, Adam Kirschbaum; and a sister: Susan (Tom) Bartt of Hiawassee, GA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.
