Jewell M Peck

Jewell M. Peck, 86, of Moline, IL, passed away on Saturday March 8, 2008 at home with her daughter at her side. Jewell M. Wexell was born on July 6, 1921, to Albert and Mary (Scott) Wexell in Cambridge, IL. She married Raymond George Peck on June 14, 1944, in Cambridge, IL. He preceded her in death November 2, 2004. She graduated from Lutheran School of Nursing in Moline. After graduation, she worked in nursing in Cook County, IL, Syracuse, NY, Boston, MA, Miami, FL, and Corpus Christi, TX. She then worked in San Diego, CA, while her husband was in the South Pacific. When back in the Quad Cities, she worked as a private duty nurse, and then worked at Lutheran Hospital until her retirement. Jewell was a member of 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island, IL, and American Legion Post 246 of Moline IL. She loved square dancing, camping, traveling, and crafts. Services will be held on Wednesday March 12th at 1pm. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation will be on Tuesday March 11th from 4-7pm. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the church or Trinity School of Nursing. Survivors include her daughter: Deborah Peck of Moline, two sons: Douglas (Mary) Peck of Metford, NJ, and Gregory Peck of Moline, two sisters: Marion Lewis of Cambridge, IL., and Peggy (John) Regal of Geneseo IL., grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a baby boy, and her daughter-in-law JoAnne Peck.
