Jeffery James

Jeffery James, 53, of Rock Island, IL, died Sunday, August 13, 2017, at his sister’s home, surrounded by his family. Per his wishes, the body will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL, on Wednesday, August 16th, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established later. Jeffery was born August 30, 1963, in Moline, to Sherrill and Jean (Emrick) James. He graduated from Rock Island High School, with the Class of 1982, where he competed in track and cross country. He still holds a track record at Edison Junior High in Rock Island. He worked at Moline Glass Company, owned by his family, and eventually he became owner/operator of Geneseo Glass, in Geneseo, IL. Some of the many things he loved to do were bike riding, camping, pontoon boating on the Rock River, and watching motor sports. The biggest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his sons, Justin (Erica) James of Milan, IL, and Naythan (Ashley) James of Rock Island; his sisters, Jennifer (Bob) Layer of Rock Island, and Sally (Steve) Hockaday of Bettendorf, IA; and his brother, Sherrill (Julie Eckhardt) James of Des Moines, IA; two aunts, Maxine Fausett of Milan, and Sharon DeVries of Rock Island; grandchildren, Javier, Jaylee, Tinley, Haydin, Annabelle, and Elley; and many cousins, nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
