Jeanette W Umland

Jeanette W. Umland, 89, of Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, IL. Services will be Wednesday, October 19th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Moline. Jeanette was born in Moline on April 27, 1927, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Ann (Hendricks) Umland. She was employed in the offices of Deere & Company for thirty-seven years, retiring in October of 1982. She was a member of First Methodist Church (now Riverside Methodist) in Moline, and the John Deere Retirees Club. Jeanette loved growing orchids for her own enjoyment, and was a member of the Illowa Orchid Society. She was an extensive world traveler. Survivors include her brother, Lester (Patricia) Umland of Moline; and two nieces, Cheryl (Gerald) Burns of Fyre Lake in Sherrard, IL, and Teresa (Charles) Wentz of East Moline, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Steven Umland. Memorials may be made to the Illowa Orchid Society, or to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
