Jean M. Boettcher, 89, of Moline, IL, passed away to Heaven Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the home of her daughter. Services will be held Friday, December 1st, at 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 3535 – 38th Avenue, Rock Island, IL, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will be at National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Bethel Assembly of God Church for their over-seas missions. Jean Stamey was born in Moline on April 4, 1928, daughter of Robert and Zola (Williams) Stamey. She married Francis Everett “Mike” Boettcher, February 1, 1946, in Clinton, IA, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1997. Jean was a graduate of Moline High School while working at the Rock Island Arsenal. She studied at Christ for the Nations Institute, Dallas, TX, and Berean School of the Bible. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service, Davenport, IA, in 1987. Jean volunteered as a women’s jail chaplain for thirteen years, and R.I. County local Deputy Registrar. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday school at Moline Gospel Temple for fourteen years. She participated in mission trips to Arequipa, Peru, Venezuela, and Cochabamba, Bolivia. She enjoyed time with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, playing piano, organ, auto harp, choir, sewing, oil and tole painting, and flower gardening. Survivors include a son, Larry Boettcher of Los Angeles, CA; daughters, Linda Barber of Moline, Marcia Sandoval of Silvis, IL, Carol Thomsen of Kansas City, MO, and Carey Welsh of Moline; grandchildren, Carlene, Kelly, Valerie, Erica, Philip, Martha, Percy, Andrae, Farrah, Jessica, and Tori; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Boettcher, brothers, Glenn and Robert Stamey, and a sister, Opal Severs.
