Janet L Hemmingson

Janet Louise Hemmingson, 84, of East Moline, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at First Congregational Church in Moline, with Rev. Becky David officiating. Visitation is two hours before the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church in Moline.

As per state COVID guidelines and safety protocols all guests will be required to wear a mask and the sanctuary is limited to 50 guests.

Janet was born November 10, 1936, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Anderson) McCune, in Moline. Janet was a proud graduate from Moline High School. Formerly, Janet McCune married Robert Hemmingson on July 29, 1978, at First Congregational Church in Moline. Bob preceded her in death on May 16, 2001. Together they raised Bob’s four children and welcomed grandchildren. Janet was an incredible second mom to Amy, Sara, John, and Paul, and a beloved grandmother. She was an Executive Secretary in several capacities throughout her career. She especially loved her time as the personal secretary to Patricia Hewitt and Michele Becherer.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Amy (Mark) Harvey, Sara (John) Holst, John (Patti) Hemmingson, and Paul Hemmingson; grandchildren Joshua (Sara Day) Harvey, Rachel (Kevin) Galbavy, Justin (Vivian) Hemmingson, Janika (Troy) Lemke, Ashley Holst, Damon (Natalie) Holst, Torrie Holst; and six great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents, Albert and Bertha;brothers, Albert “Dick” McCune, Robert L. McCune, Allyn McCune, and sister, Cheryl Dralle.
