Janet Baker, born on July 25, 1934, in Wilton, Iowa, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa. Janet was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of many.

Janet had a fulfilling career in retail, dedicating many years of her life to the industry before retiring. She was known to many as Grandma Jan due to her caring, compassionate, and welcoming nature that allowed her to embrace so many into her family.

Her life was characterized by a love for family and the joys of togetherness. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and had a particular fondness for traveling and visiting various casinos. Janet especially enjoyed going on “girls’ trips” with her daughter, Jackie, and her friends, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.

Janet is survived by her beloved daughter, Jackie (Paul) Schroeder of LeClaire, Iowa, and her grandson, Mitchell (Stephanie) McAtee of Nichols, Iowa. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Briston, Blayne, and Levi McAtee, all of Nichols, Iowa. Additionally, Janet is survived by her sisters, Donna Peters and Kay King of Durant, Iowa, her brothers, Richard Reimers of Iowa City, Iowa, and James Reimers of Davenport, Iowa, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor Reimers; her sisters, Juanita Smith, and Shirley Bland; her husband, Clem Baker; and her daughter, Christine McAtee.

Janet Baker leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that will continue to resonate with all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
