Jane K Ickes

Jane K. Ickes, 90, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis, IL. Services will be held Friday, August 14, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to First Lutheran Church in Moline. Jane K. Benson was born in Moline on November 6, 1918, to Elmer and Ruth (Wilson) Benson. On August 9, 1943, she married Richard "Dick" N. Ickes, who preceded her in death December 12, 2002. She was a graduate of Moline High School, and the Chicago Art Institute. During WWII, she worked for the Corps of Engineers. She was a home maker, and was a member of the Alice Kennedy Kings Daughters, and K.T. Chapter of P.E.O.. Her favorite pasttimes were art and knitting. She taught knitting for several years. Survivors include: a daughter: Kay (Andre) Hahn of Port Byron, IL; a son: Michael (Eileen) Ickes of East Moline, IL; a granddaughter: Lauren Ickes; three grandsons: Andy Hahn, Aaron Ickes, and Ryan Ickes; a sister-in-law: Marianne Benson; and several very special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Duane Benson, and a daughter: Sandra Ickes.
