James R Unzicker

James "Jack" Unzicker, 93, of Milan, IL, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL. There will be no services, as the body is being donated to the School of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, is handling the arrangements. James R. Unzicker was born in Alberta, Canada, on April 16, 1917, to Rudolf and Beda (Parish) Unzicker. On July 23, 1942, in Lincoln, NE, he married June Pfeiff, who preceded him in death October 1, 2002. He graduated from Lincoln High School, and the University of Nebraska, and was employed by American Air Filter for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was a Mason, and a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, where he drove the church van for several years. Jack was an avid golfer who shot his age at 79. Survivors include a daughter: Jacquelyn(Rick)Hufford of Moline; three grandsons: Christian Hufford, Matthew Mercer, and Scott Unzicker; and a special friend: Luella Taube of Milan. In addition to his wife, June, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons: Michael and Leland Unzicker.
