James R Gilson

James R. Gilson, MD, 77, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away at Centennial Hospital in North Las Vegas on Monday, March 27, 2017, from complications of a stroke. Services will be Sunday, April 2nd, at 3:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Jim was born on May 24, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to Richard A. and Ruth (Mason) Gilson. On April 30, 1982, in the Quad-Cities, he married Joan V. Petrosky, who survives. Jim graduated from Moline High School in 1957, from Augustana College in 1961, and from Medical School in 1965. He began his medical practice in the Quad Cities in 1972. He was a cardiologist, son, father, grandfather, and husband. In addition to his wife, Joan, survivors include his children, Kim, Rick, Michelle, and Greg; step-daughters, Christine and Anjanette; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
