James L Mcgory

James L. McGory, 70, of Moline, IL, formerly of Orion, IL, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at his home. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be Friday, November 29th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will take place on Monday, December 2nd, at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Kingdom Trailriders, 15711 - 13th Street, Milan, IL 61264, or the Beacon of Hope Hospice, Inc, 1020 W 35th Street, Davenport, IA 52806, or to a charity of the donor's choice. James McGory was born in Detroit, MI, on January 19, 1943, to Lynn "Mac" and Dorothy (Olson) McGory. He was married to Sandra S. Drobeck. He later married Sally Starkweather on November 12, 1983, in Moline. He served in the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, FL. James was an electrician by trade, and worked at Chrysler Corporation in Warren, MI, at Deere & Company in Milan, IL, at McMillan-Bloedel in Rock Island, IL, and at Uni-Flyte in Orion, IL. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association, and the Moline Vikings. His friends will remember him as a regular drag-racer and pit-crew member at Cordova Dragway Park, Cordova, IL. In addition to his wife, Sally, survivors include, daughters: Suzanne M McGory of Sterling Heights, MI, and Samantha (David) LaVigne of South Lyon, MI; step-sons:Daren D. (Jessica) James of Milan, IL, and Christopher L. James of Moline; a brother: Patrick (Patricia) McGory of Berkley, MI; and twelve grandchildren.
