James D Anthony

James D. Anthony II, 58, of Monmouth, OR, formerly of Moline, IL, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home. Per his request, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held October 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a one-hour visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. James was born in Moline on May 28, 1957, the son of James D. Sr. and Catherine (Hogue) Anthony. On June 15th, 1989 in Lake Tahoe, he married Terry Higgins, who survives. He worked as a project scheduler at the Bonneville Power Administration in the state of Washington. Jim graduated from Moline High in 1975 and later from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He served in the US Navy till his Honorable discharge with Type I diabetes in 1983. Jim was a Troop Leader in the Boy Scouts and an Elk Club member. He enjoyed most outdoor activities, including shooting, camping and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling, cooking for his family and the Cubs and Bears. James was involved in the lives of his family and friends, providing wisdom and care when needed. He was also a strong and stubborn man who loved his family and friends dearly. A true warrior, he fought his diabetes and cancer with both determination and an infectious positive attitude. Survivors include his wife, Terry, and son, Christopher (Hannah) Anthony, all of Monmouth, OR; his mother, Catherine Anthony of Moline; a step-daughter, Sarah Heighes of Oregon and grandson, Dade; brothers, Jeffrey (Lisa) Anthony of Bettendorf, IA, Brian Anthony of Atlanta, GA, and David (Genevieve) Anthony of Moline, and several nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister-in-law, Rachelle.
