Helen S. Lambert, 92, of Rockford, IL, died August 8, 2016, in River Bluff Nursing Home in Rockford. A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Wendt Funeral Home, 1811 – 15th Street Place, Moline, IL. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Bluff Auxiliary, 4401 North Main Street, Rockford, IL 61103. Born September 12, 1923, in Galesburg, IL, to Sigfried and Hulda (Nelson) Johnson, Helen graduated from Moline High School and married William T. Lambert on November 25, 1945. He predeceased her January 1, 1999. Helen assisted her mother at Johnson’s Tea Room in Moline, and worked at Moline Iron Works, Deere and Company, Ray Nobling Accounting, East Moline State Hospital, Clark Oil Company, and the State of Illinois DCFS office in Rockford. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline and Broadway Covenant Church in Rockford. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society, and was a Board Member of the Rock Island Polio Association. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Williams of Alabama, Patricia (Darrel) Peterson of Rockford, and William T. “Tom” Lambert II of Muscatine, IA; son-in-law, William Van Brunt of Moline; grandchildren, James (Alesha) Williams, Steve (Ellen) Peterson, Bob (Heather) Peterson, Rebecca (Jeff) Morris, Ken (Teri) Lambert, and Crystal Clark; ten great-grandchildren; and special life-long friend, Merrilee Theobold. She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Van Brunt; brothers, Paul and Harold Johnson; sister, Barbara Johnson Raub; and special friend, Dorothy Efflandt.
