Harriet Brightman, 89, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Stonebridge Skilled Nursing Facility in Austin, TX. Visitation will be held at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 15th, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Immediately after the funeral Mass, luncheon will be served in the church hall. Following lunch, internment will be in Erie Cemetery, Erie, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Christ The King Church in Mrs. Brightman's name. The former Harriet Adele Wales was born the fourth of five children of Elmer E Wales and Louisa Williamson Wales on April 2, 1922, in Moline. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Moline in 1940. She married Francis Harland Brightman on November 30, 1940. They farmed for many years in the Erie and Fenton area in Whiteside County, IL. They were the parents of five children, Michael, Deidre, Melissa, Debra, and Kevin. Harriet was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Virginia Boyce, Catherine Heinz, and Thomas Wales; husband; and sons, Michael and Kevin. She is survived by her daughters, Deidre Brightman (John Andre), Austin, TX; Melissa Brightman, Woodstock, IL; and Debra Mork (Scot), Mora, MN. Mrs. Brightman is also survived by her sister, Bette Wales Resser, Moline; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren are Elizabeth Corbin Tyndorf (Tim), Jennifer Corbin Katacic (Sam), Michael Hagans (Megan), AndreaPizzuto, Anthony Vincent Pizzuto, Anna Messine (Frederic), Kathleen Giannette (Rick, Franklin Nelson (Homa), and John Cox (Karen).
