Harold Lochrie

Harold "Scot" Lochrie, 74, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012. He joinied the Lord after having lived a rich, full llife, and enjoying the great adventure. He donated his body to science, and was an organ donor. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31st, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, 3303 - 60th Street, Moline, at 11:00 a.m., with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. There will be refreshments served at the church after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America. "Scot" was born November 15, 1937, in Butte, MT, to John & Elva (Sappenfield) Lochrie. He moved to Illinois at the age of ten, and attended several Illinois schools. He served in the U. S. Navy, and then the U. S. Air Force, where he studied electronics and radar. In 1959, he married Dorothy Ross of Moline. He worked at Eagle Signal in Davenport, IA, after getting out of the service. For a short time, he worked for the City of Rock Island, in the traffic department. Then he was employed by the City of Moline, in the Traffic Control Department, for the next 35 years before retiring in 2000. He was active in the Union A.F.S.C.M.E. Local#11232, holding many positions including President. He felt his greatest achievement involved work with the Boy Scouts. It started as a committee member in 1964 with Troop #305. He was Scoutmaster for the troop for 20 years. He was a District Committeeman for the Sac-Fox Council, and on the committee for the Buffalo Bill and Sac-Fox merger into the Illowa Council. He served as Round Table Chairman, and later as Training Chairman for the Illiniwek District. He earned his Woodbadge Beads in the first course given in Illinois - EC101W. In 1984, he started working with the Military Explorer Post #9044 as a committee member, and eventually became Post Commander, and Iowa State Commander. In 1996, he was awarded the Silver Beaver in recognition of his years in Scouting. He felt rewarded in this work whenever a former scout would return and say that he had helped them on the road of life in some small way. He was an avid member of the Scottish-American Society, a member of the First Congregational Church in Moline, and a member of Homewood Evangelical Church, also in Moline. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, who was the light of his life. He is survived by his five sons, their wives, and six grandchildren: Leonard & Lauren of Lowell, MA; Alan & Cathy, grandson Richard of Akron, OH; Robert & Wendy, granddaughter Grace of Centralia, MO; Peter & Kerstin, granddaughter Samantha, grandsons Jacob & Tucker of Woburn, MA; and Arthur & Natasha, granddaughter Jzasmeen of the Chicago area.
