Harold F. Barnett, 72, of Queen Creek, AZ, formerly of Davenport, IA, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009, of natural causes. He was surrounded by loving family and life-time friend, Jack Pulford. Visitation will be Thursday, October 22nd, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Friday, October 23rd, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Harold was born in Fairfield, IA, on March 28, 1937, to Harold O. and Edith Joy Barnett. On August 9, 1987, in Las Vegas, NV, he married his devoted wife, Kyong. Harold graduated from Moline High School, and immediately enlisted in the U.S.Navy for four years, before returning to Moline where he worked at IBM for a short time. He then went to work at John Deere in June, 1959, retiring in July 2002. During his employment with Deere, Harold traveled to Germany twice; in 1969 and again in 1981, returning to Davenport in 1989. In 1989, he was able to realize his ideal position at John Deere as Director of Parts Distribution. After retirement, and in his spare time, Harold enjoyed day trading as a hobby, and spending time with his family. He also greatly appreciated fine dining, watching sports and movies, and taking in sunshine and fresh air. In addition to his wife, Kyong Barnett, survivors include: his sister, Sharon Buxton; his son, Michael Barnett; stepdaughters: Michelle O'Hara, Patricia McKeown, and Belinda Gibeau; a stepson, Daniel Parker; two nephews, and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Michelle Marie.
