H. Chris Langill, 61, of Atlanta, GA, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, November 20, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He had been in Phoenix, AZ, on a business trip. A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 12, 2008, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be immediately following the memorial service at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Chris had many favorite charities, including the Salvation Army and the Humane Society. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Harry Chris Langill was born in Moline on October 23, 1947, to Harry and Eleanor (Evans) Langill. A graduate of MHS, he continued his education at the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor's degree in Social Studies/Secondary Education and a master's degree in Social Studies. After college, Chris relocated to Texas, first residing in Houston and several years later moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He had owned and operated Chrismark Homes, a custom home construction business in Dallas. He later worked for Hyphen Solutions in Dallas. In 2004, Chris accepted an employment opportunity with Beazer Homes as a corporate business analyst and relocated to Atlanta. Chris enjoyed his many friends, family, and colleagues. His passion for reading and interest in history inspired him to explore London and to travel to Europe. He especially loved the South Carolina coast and spent many happy times with his family on Kiawah Island. His kindness and generosity were evident as he was a lifetime supporter of an assortment of organizations. As a volunteer, he contributed many hours tutoring at an adult education facility for ESL and GED. Chris' final act of generosity was realized upon giving the gift of life as an organ donor. Survivors include Becky and Maynard Neighbors of Moline, Candy and Pat Wendt of East Moline, Cindy and Tom Dooley of New Hampshire, Holly Langill of Davenport, and many nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his wonderful dog, Max.
