Grace M Franklin

Grace M. Franklin, 77, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Thursday, July 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Grace M. Hintz was born on March 3, 1934, to Otto and Sarah (Kieper) Hintz in Polar, WI. She married Jerry L. Franklin on June 15, 1954, in Milwaukee, WI. She had been employed as a welder at International Harvester Farmall Works from 1973 until 1983. She then worked for Lutheran Social Servicers from 1990 until 1995. She had been a member of the Moline Archery Club, and the Bowling League at Sam's Highland Park Bowl. She enjoyed cooking, and was famous for her potato salad. She loved her grandchildren and will be remembered for her giggle. Survivors include, daughters: Pam (Kevin) Franklin-Fugate of Moline, Michelle Rau of Highland, IN; a son: Brent Franklin of Moline, IL; three sisters: Joan Heistad of Antigo, WI, Carol Hoolsema of Marion,WI, and Arlene (Larry) Somann of Antigo, WI.; fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, and two sons: Bradley G. in 2001, and Bruce W. in 2006.
