Gloria Logan Cox

July 23, 1925 — August 26, 2014

Gloria Logan Cox, 89, of Moline, IL, found peace on August 26, 2014, at home. She was surrounded by her husband, Dave, and her four daughters, ending a beautiful love story. Visitation will be Thursday, August 28th, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Friday, August 29th, at 1:00 pm, at First Free Evangelical Church, 3321 – 7th Street, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Camp Courageous in Monticello, IA. She was born on July 23, 1925 in Dallas City, Illinois, to Urban and Faye Logan. Gloria graduated from Moline High School in 1943. Music was a passion, especially enjoying hymns and classical music. In her early years, she sang for many special occasions. She was lead vocalist in the first Music Guild Production, “Sweethearts”. She was a member of the singing group “20 Under 20”, which aired on radio. Gloria was known for being an expert seamstress, sewing and designing many clothes for family and friends. Gloria married David J. Cox October 26, 1947. She was a Christian lady who believed faithfully in our Lord and Savior. She was a member of the former Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was active as music director and Builders Club. Gloria retired from John Deere Parts Company in East Moline, IL, after serving 15 years with Deere. Always generously giving of her time, she kept very involved with her twelve grandchildren and their activities. This classy lady will be greatly missed. She was our rock. She is survived by husband, Dave; daughters Elizabeth Young, Mary (Greg) Beard, Julie (Dennis) VandePutte, and Amy Jo (Kevin) Soeken; twelve grandchildren: Cori, Laurie, Christian, Erica, Megan, Dane, Sean, Lara, Niccole, Sarah, Taylor, and Makenzie; sixteen great-grandchildren: sister Janis Ryser; brother Frederick Logan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant son David J. Cox, Jr.
