Glenn D. Benner, 90, of Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22nd, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Monday, April 23rd, at 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church, 1826 - 16th Street, Moline. Entombment will be at the Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church. Glenn D. Benner was born in Fulton County, Illinois, on December 26, 1921, to Dwight and Amber (Bear) Benner. On December 4, 1959, in Davenport, IA, he married Eva Moore, who survives. He was a graduate of Farmington High School in 1939, and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1949, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, opened owned his own clinic, and practiced for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He was a very active member of First Christian Church in Moline, serving as a former Chairman of the Board. He was a member and Past-President of the Breakfast Optimist Club, a member of the International Chiropractic Association, a member and two-time Past-President of the Illinois Prairie State Chiropractic Association, and a Fellow at the Palmer Chiropractic College. He was named Chiropractor of the Year by both the ICA and the IPSCA. And he was a former Barbershopper. In addition to his wife, Eva, he is survived by nieces: Sharon McDonald of Omaha, NE, and Janice Sligar of Peoria, IL; and a cousin: Jack McComb of Fairbanks, AK. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gladys, and a brother, Keith.
