Gladys Irene Kohler

Gladys I. Kohler, 95, of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at UnityPoint Trinity West in Rock Island, IL. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22nd, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1608 – 13th Street, Moline. Interment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in East Moline, IL. Afterwards, a memorial luncheon will be held for family and friends, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Moline, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Gladys Irene Olson was born in Tampico, IL, on September 20, 1922, to Charles D. and Pauline (Adison) Olson. She married Arvid Kohler in Raton, NM. He preceded her in death September 18, 1996. Gladys was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline, enjoyed crewel work, and was an avid gardener. She was a generous and humble supporter of many charitable organizations. Survivors include her daughter, Margo (David) Georlett of Moline; a sister, Helen Shaffer of Moline; grandchildren, Christopher Ruggles of Portland, OR, Greg Ruggles of Bettendorf, IA, Kyle Georlett and Kari Georlett, both of Coal Valley, IL; and great-grandchildren, Kohler, Gracen, Parker, Ethan, Delaney, and Owen. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Ruggles, and her brother, Raymond Olson.
