George Rohkohl, 96, of Glenview, IL, died on September 15, 2008, at Maryhaven Nursing Home in Glenview, IL. He formerly lived in Friendship Manor, Rock Island, as well as Moline and Chicago. Services will be Saturday, September 20th, at 10:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1330 - 13th Street, Moline. Visitation will be Saturday, at the church, from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. George William Rohkohl was born October 20, 1911, to Max and Augusta (Kosanke) Rohkohl in Chicago, IL. He married Elsie Voss, in Chicago, on October 24, 1942, and she preceded him in death in 1968. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He worked for International Harvester Company at McCormick Works, Chicago, and East Moline, IL, for 42 years, retiring in 1974 as Manager of Electrical Engineering. George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, and was volunteer financial secretary for the church. He also belonged to the Lincoln Turners, where he was active in the Drum & Bugle Corps and the volleyball team. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, golf, bowling, bridge, dancing, and volunteering at church. Survivors include his daughter: Nancy (Mike) Sims of Evanston, IL; and four grandchildren: Brett and his wife Sarah, Blake, Christine, and Nicholas Sims. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mildred Schultz, and a brother, Charles Rohkohl.
