George M. Pettit, 60, of Coal Valley, IL, died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at his home. Visitation will be Thursday, September 24th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Friday, September 25th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. George M. Pettit was born in Moline on May 18, 1949, to Glenn E. and Evelyn J. (Madison) Pettit. On June 14, 1969, in Moline, he married Melba King. Later, on July 15, 1989, in Sherrard, IL, he married Mary P. Aasen, who survives. He graduated from Moline High School, and from Scott Community College in Bettendorf, IA. He was employed for 17 years, at Deere & Company, and was last working as a carpenter for West Maintenance in East Moline. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his Mother, Evelyn Pettit; a son: Gabriel (Elizabeth) Pettit of Moline; a daughter: Shea (Jeff) Trask of Moline; a special daughter: Hong Nguyen of Moline; two step-sons: Jeremy Aune of Rock Island and Chad (Dixie) Aune of Beaufort, SC; a brother: Glenn "Bud" Pettit of Tucson, AZ; a special brother: Chad Erlenbusch of Piedmont, SD; and six grandchildren: Chelsie, Cody, Emmersyn, Timothy, Madeline, and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his father.
