Gary G Rumler

Gary G. Rumler, 72, of Sherrard, IL, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at UnityPoint Trinity West Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. Services will be Tuesday, September 15th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation prior to the services, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. Gary was born in Moline on June 10, 1943, to Bill and Grace (Samuelson) Rumler. He was the youngest of eleven children. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline with the Class of 1962. He worked at Franks Foundry in Moline, and was a member and past deacon of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an accomplished taxidermist in his younger years. Gary is survived by sisters-in-law Mary Rumler and Carmen Rumler; brother-in-law Warren Jennings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Juanita DeCastaker, Janice Aitken, and JoAnn Jennings, and brothers, Roy, Donald, Kenneth, William, Clifford, Harold, and Robert Rumler. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of Gary’s (Stumpy’s) friends in Sherrard. They would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at UnityPoint Health-Trinity in Rock Island, for the wonderful care Gary received during his final days.
