Gary D Armstrong

Pastor Gary D. Armstrong, 65, of Rock Island, IL, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at UnityPoint Trinity West in Rock Island. Services will be Thursday, September 14th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, with a two-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Gary was born May 17, 1952, in Galesburg, IL, son of Leonard R. and Lorene (Hickle) Armstrong. On October 7, 1989, in East Moline, IL, he married Sandra Schinckel, who survives. He served as a Pastor at the Fellowship Temple in Silvis, IL. He was employed as a security guard for PerMar, and then was a salesman in the paint department at Walmart in Moline for eleven years, retiring in 2007. In addition to his wife, Sandra, survivors include his children, Dale (Alma) Nipper of Rock Island, Candy (James) Wadkins of East Moline, Scott Nipper of Rock Island, Gary Armstrong Jr, and Elizabeth (Mathew) Bowers of Moline; a brother, Donald (Angie) Armstrong of Coal Valley, IL; a sister, Vicki (Lynn) Morris of Rock Island; eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
