Francis Ford, 94, of Moline, IL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2009. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Thursday, February 19th, at 10:30 a.m., at Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church, 3004 56th Street, in Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to the Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church. Francis L. Ford was born in Brookfield, MO, on October 5, 1914, to Frank and Lillian (Bell) Ford. In 1938, in Moline, he married Lillian Freeberg, who died September 23, 1994. He then married Patty Border in Moline, on January 12, 1996. He was employed by Ametek in East Moline, for 38-1/2 years, holding various office positions before retiring as Shipping and Receiving Department Supervisor in December of 1977. In March of 1978, Francis started working part-time at Trevor's Hardware Store in Moline, and remained employed there until 1990. In January 1990, he and Lillian began delivering Meals-On-Wheels once a week. After that, he volunteered with Hospice Care through the Visiting Nurses Association. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Moline for 45 years, and served as financial secretary and on the church council. He then joined Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church in 1996. In addition to his wife, Patty, survivors include: four daughters: Mary (James) Anderson of Moline, Cheryl Beers of Belton, MO, Virginia (Richard) Stearns of Moline, and Sylvia Tague of Eldridge, IA; a son: Alan (Laurie) Ford of Rock Island, IL.; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two step-daughters: Bonnie Zirotte of Ira, MI, and Lori Thermos of Milan, IL. In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: James Tague and Wayne Beers. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the excellent care provided in the Arcadia Unit of Heartland Health Care Center in Moline.
