Frances McClean Paradise, 92, of Pasadena, CA, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in California. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12th, at 10:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Inurnment will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Historical Society. Frances was born in Moline on December 2, 1921, the daughter of William R. and Frances (Roose) McClean. On August 28, 1948, in the First Congregational Church in Moline, she married Robert L. Paradise, who preceded her in death March 23, 1999. Frances was a graduate of the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation, she was a private duty nurse, and worked at Moline Public Hospital. She also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nursing Corp during WWII, and was stationed at the 360th Station Hospital on Goodenough Island in the Pacific Theatre. Survivors include: daughter Christine Paradise of Pasadena, CA; son Louis Paradise of Fresno, CA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Bill and Dick McClean, and two sisters Helen Wendt and Margaret Freeman.
