Fanchon (Penny) Knaack, 87, of Moline, IL, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, surrounded by family at Rosewood Rehabilitation Center in Moline. Services will be 12:00 noon on Monday, March 21st, at Wendt Funeral Home, 1811 – 15th Street Place, Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Penny was born on September 19, 1928, in Woodhull, IL, the daughter of Oscar G. and Lillie M. (Heflin) Nelson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1946. She married John H. Knaack Jr on November 1, 1946 in Moline. Penny was a certified medical assistant. She was a member of Via Crucis Circle of Kings Daughters and the First Congregational Church in Moline. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting, and crocheting. Her legacy will continue with the many handmade keepsakes she lovingly made for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John H.; daughter Georgia (Kent) Stevens of Elmwood, IL; son John S. (Trudy) Knaack of Moline; daughter Julie (Tim) Mills of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Todd (Marni) Stevens of Greencastle, IN, Brett (Brandy Stevens of Elmwood, IL, Jennifer (Michael) Zambrano of Pingree Grove, IL, Sara Knaack of Moline, Lindsay (Brian) Bell of Knoxville, TN, Katherine (Jason) Stewart of Fort Polk, LA; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother Richard (Dorothy) Nelson of Colona; a sister Mercedes (Perry) Munday of Tacoma, WA; a sister-in-law Marilyn Nelson of LeClaire, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Nelson.
