Glenn Miner, 85, of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL. Visitation will be Friday, January 21st, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:00, conducted by Coal Valley Masonic Lodge AF & AM #547, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Saturday, January 22nd, at 10:00 a.m., at First Christian Church in Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. F. Glenn Miner was born in Galesburg, IL, on June 17, 1925, to Ross and Thelma (Kinton) Miner. On April 16, 1950, in Moline, he married Barbara I. Forster, who preceded him in death March 10, 1999. He served in the U. S. Army. He was employed by John Deere Harvester for 38 years, retiring in 1982 in Production Control. After his retirement, he served as a tour guide at John Deere Harvester, for 28 years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Moline for 64 years, and was a Sunday School teacher for all but two of those years. He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #274, and Masonic Lodge AF & AM #547. He very much enjoyed his John Deere riding mower, and loved mowing grass for many people. Survivors include, a daughter: Kim (Greg) Moore of Waterford, MI; sons: Donald Miner of Silvis, IL, and Robert Miner of Taylorville, IL; brothers: Clark (Dianne) Miner and Dick (Colleen) Miner; children/grandchildren: Tonya (Tony) Linnabery, and Ginger (Josh) Smith; grandchildren: Deborah (Dave) Martin, and Kathryn Miner; and great-grandchildren: Tristan, Logan, and Annabelle. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth, Bob, and Wilber, a daughter-in-law: Christie Miner, and a daughter: Ann Louise Miner.
