Evelyn H Short

Evelyn Short, 91, of East Moline, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Trinity Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Monday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church. Evelyn H. Culley was born on Feb. 15, 1919, in Carbondale, Ill., to Clarence and Mamie Bennett Culley. She married Bernard W. Short in Marion, Ill., in 1938, and he preceded her in death. Evelyn was a mail clerk for Black Hawk College in Moline. She was a member of First Christian Church in Moline, Beta Sigma Phi, King's Daughters,and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing the organ and loved playing bridge. Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Jerry) Smith, Moline; son, Mike (Patricia) Short, Bufford, Ga.; two sisters, Iveau Aldrich, Iowa City, Iowa, and Helen Ottsen, Carbondale; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Short; and one sister.
