Eugene Edward Peterson

Eugene E. Peterson, 86 of Moline, IL, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16th, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Thursday, January 17th, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Christian Friendliness, Moline. Gene Peterson was born in Moline on March 12, 1926, to William and Mae (Simmons) Peterson. On November 21, 1957, in Rock Island, he married Lucy Melinda Ingerson, who survives. He graduated from the Moline school system, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a wood-worker for Strombeck & Becker Manufacturing, and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Moline. He enjoyed mowing grass and shoveling snow. In addition to his wife, Lucy, survivors include, daughter: Elizabeth (Robin) Kizer of Moline; sons: Jody (Shirlee) Peterson of Davenport, IA, and John Peterson of Moline; stepdaughter: Terry Rada of Moline; stepson: Randy (Phylis) Jones of Cuba, IL; a brother: Raymond Peterson of Berrien Springs, MI; eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Ruth Baker, Rose Schultz, and Wilma Sticklen.
