Eugene "Bill" Boyer, 86, of Moline, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at his home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28th, at Wendt Funeral Home, 1811 - 15th Street Place, Moline. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Bill Boyer was born in Iron Mountain, MI, on April 27, 1926, the son of Beatrice and Jacob L. Boyer. He moved to Moline, and graduated from Moline High School in 1944. He served in the Philippines in World War II, as a sergeant. He married Donna Boyer (nee Erickson) at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1950. They were members of Faith Lutheran Church for 61 years. Bill was employed at Dictaphone Corporation as a service manager for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He also worked at Dutchway Cleaners for many years. A handyman's handy man, he built an entire addition to his residence by himself. He also constructed a homemade trailer of his own design, which he used to take his family on many vacations around the country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, on July 23, 2011; and by his brother, Russell Boyer of York, PA. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Boyer, Chicago; and two sons, Dale Boyer, Chicago, and Larry Boyer, Silver Springs, FL. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
