Eric A. Bomar

Eric A. Bomar, 39, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at his home in Rock Island, IL.

A funeral service will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11 am at the The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 929 14th Street, Rock Island, IL. There will be a one hour visitation before the service.

Eric was born in Rock Island, IL, on November 1, 1983, to Dorothy Jean Bomar. Eric was known for his outgoing personality, free spirit, and love for everyone he came in contact with. Eric helped without question, possessing a spirit of a servant. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved being in Nature. His greatest passion was attending church, which he rarely ever missed, except during his time of illness. He often spoke of how much he missed church during that time and couldn’t wait to get back on his feet to stand on his post! Eric “Little Eric,” as his church family knows him, was a long-time member of The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, working with the Usher Ministry and serving as a keeper of the door.

Eric is survived by his sisters, Bonnett and Crystal Bomar; uncle Anthony Bomar; nephew, Edrick Bomar; niece, Sha’Kayla Ivy; great nephew, Nessiah Samir Ivy-Brown and extended family, which he deeply loved.

He also leaves to mourn his passing, dear friends, Laurie and Simon Milton, whom he looked up to and enjoyed traveling and spending time with, Taliah and Christopher Moss, Arthur Dixon, and his Greater Antioch Church Family.

Eric will be greatly missed by many. He lived his life joyfully and greeted everyone he met with a smile!

Eric now joins in death his mother Dorothy Bomar, grandmother Jeanett Offutt, great grandmother Irene Crittendon, whom he adored, great grandfather Johnnie Bomar and a sister Denise Bomar.
