An Inurnment Service for Betty Willey, 94, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Moline, IL, will be held graveside on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis, IL. Any friends who knew her are invited to attend. Betty passed away January 28, 2015, at Springwood Assisted Living in Fort Myers, FL. Elizabeth Jean Riley was born November 1, 1919 in Monmouth, IL. She eloped with the Reverend Charles Willey and they married in Kentucky in 1939. Betty received a teaching degree from Western Illinois University, and taught school in a one-room country school. When her husband became pastor at Coldbrook Christian Church in Coldbrook, IL, she served beside him from 1945 until 1953. They moved to Moline in 1953, when Charles took the position of pastor at First Christian Church. After his retirement, Betty served as booking agent for her husband during his public speaking career. The couple moved to Fort Myers in 2005, leaving many good friends behind, but Betty always considered Moline to be home. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Clendenin of Fort Myers; grandchildren, Scott Laud of Moline, Lora Wilson of Singapore, and Melissa Bishop of Omaha, NE; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Riley.
