Elfriede E Banderob

Elfriede E. Banderob, 93, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Moline, passed away April 7, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 13th, at 1:00 p.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 – 21st Avenue, Moline. Wendt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline. Elfriede E. Schnoor was born in Kiel, Germany, on February 22, 1923, to Heinrich and Ida (Eichmann) Schnoor. On May 20, 1942, in Kiel, she married Walter A. Banderob, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2007. She was employed by Hart, Schaffner & Marx Menswear for ten years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline, and in earlier days, was a member of the choir. She also held membership in LWML Ladies Group at the church, the Women of Christian Service, and the German-American National Congress. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Germany, two nephews in Canada, and close friends and their families, Mitch and Joyce Strach of Milan, IL, and Mike and Shirley Smith of Moline. In addition to her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anni Handschick.
