Elaine Ruberg

Elaine Ruberg, 90, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of East Moline, IL, passed away peaceably on Monday, July 13, 2020, at her home with her family present. Elaine was born in East Moline, IL, on August 28, 1929, the daughter of BG and Georgia Sperry.  On August 20, 1953, Elaine was married to Joe Ruberg. Elaine was a graduate of United Township High School and Western Illinois University. She taught at United Township High School for 30 years, coached and refereed many high school sports, but her favorite pastime was to golf with her best friend, Dorothy Ward.  Along with her husband, Joe, Elaine worked tirelessly to support the Moline and Blue Marlins swimming teams. Elaine is survived by her children, Tim and Andi Ruberg, Jay Ruberg, Scot and Mandy Ruberg, Liz Johnson Driskell, and Billie Joe Shaffer; her grandchildren, Mandi Patton, Benjamin Ruberg, Sara Parsons, and Stephen Ruberg; and her great-grandchildren, Jake Patton, Grayce Patton, Chris Wright, Amber Wright, and Paisleigh Parsons.
