Elaine M Raney

Elaine M. Raney, 85, of Moline, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Community Christian Fellowship (CCF), 1702 6th Avenue, Moline. Elaine was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Davenport, to Raymond and Margaret Wampfler. She married Bill Raney on Nov. 22, 1947. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband; son Greg; parents; and brother Winston. She worked at Moline Public and Mercy Hospitals and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Elaine's love of dancing continued into her retirement. For many years she volunteered with her brother Jack's group dancing at local nursing homes. Elaine showed her children and grandchildren how to rejoice with laughter, music, and Irish jigs, how to face sorrow with dignity and grace, and the importance of being positive and kind. Survivors include her children Judy (Terry) Watkinson of Boulder Creek CA., Sandy (John) Raney of Aptos CA., Mary Jo (Claus) Bartl of Moline, and Kim (Scott) Goldsmith of Lancaster, PA.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers Jack and Joe Wampfler; sisters Mary Feuerbach and Margaret Hansen. Memorials may be made to Humility of Mary Housing in Davenport or charitywater.org in Elaine's name.
