Bob was born on January 30, 1939, to Edythe Broadwater Greenway and Edwin Carl Greenway in Moline, IL. Bob graduated from Moline High School in 1957 and Augustana College in 1961. He was one of the first members of the Moline Boys Choir, and was also an outstanding tennis player during his high school years. He began his long career at Deere & Company after graduation from college. His first position was in Production Control at John Deere Planter Works in Moline. He then went to John Deere Company of Minneapolis as a Marketing Trainee, and then into Management Training at John Deere Harvester Works in Moline. Bob was transferred to John Deere Dubuque Works as a Marketing Rep, and then became an Asst. Territory Manager for the Atlanta Branch in 1969. This prepared him for his next assignment as Territory Manager covering the North Carolina area of the John Deere Atlanta Branch. In 1974, he was moved into the office of the Atlanta Branch as Dealer Accounting Manager. In 1984, he was promoted to Governmental Sales Manager. He held this position until 1997, when he became Governmental Sales Growth Manager, which provided him the opportunity to train his replacement. Bob retired in December of 1998. During his years in Atlanta, he was a match coordinator for ALTA (Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association), and was privileged to warm up with some of the pros, his favorite being Maria Navratilova. He also was very involved in Junior Achievement and in his church, Brookhaven Christian Disciples of Christ (DOC). After retirement, Bob pursued and attained a life-long dream to become a minister. In 2001, he received his Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, and was ordained that same year in Atlanta at Brookhaven Christian Church (DOC) by the Reverend Dr. Fred Craddock, the Reverend Dr. Ken Kline, the Reverend Charles Willey, the Reverend Dr. Hal Doster, the Reverend Larry Deitch, the Reverend Anne Bonney, and the Reverend Dr. Jack Snellgrove. His first ministerial responsibility was as a Hospice Chaplain in Ormond Beach, FL, for Memorial Hospital Hospice. In 2004, he was asked to plant a Christian Church (DOC) in Flagler County. This church, First Christian Church of Flagler Beach (DOC) began with 7 members and grew to 50 members in a matter of weeks. He served there for 2 years and was then called to pastor First Christian Church in Knoxville, IL, where he remained from 2006 to 2008. Once again, Hospice was calling to him, and in 2009, he began calling on Beacon of Hope Hospice patients in Scott County, Iowa, and Rock Island County, IL. He was also an on-call chaplain for Genesis Hospital systems and he served as Minister of Visitation for Memorial Christian Church (DOC) in Moline. Bob’s true niche was as a Hospice Chaplain. He dearly loved all the people he called on. He loved to sing and was asked often to sing hymns that were so meaningful to many. Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy, step-son, Shane (Mary) Newton, step-daughter, Tracey (Darren) Greene, daughter-in-law, Emily Greenway, daughter, Michelle (Lew) Birdseye, seven grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Paul Bladl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Loie Ann Mitchell Greenway, an infant brother, Michael, a sister, Nancy Bladl, and a son, Mitchell Todd Greenway.
