Edwin L. Minear, Sr, 67, of Milan, IL, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home. Visitation will be Monday, July 22nd, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Tuesday, July 23rd, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, with military rites accorded by Milan American Legion Post 569. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Edwin Lee Minear was born in Unionville, MO, on July 12, 1946, to Royal and Betty (Mullenix) Minear in Unionville, MO. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War He was proud to be a veteran, and survived Agent Orange-related throat cancer through the 1990's. Ed was owner/operator of the Katie Did Tavern for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 569 of Milan, VFW Post 1303, Vietnam Veterans of America, Marine Corps League, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and Southside Boat Club. He was a diehard Bears fan, and loved his Harley's. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and cookouts, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud father and grandfather. Ed had a full life, and will be sorely missed by many. Survivors include, children: Sabreena (Todd) Dusenberry, Brandy (Dean) Harper, Dawn Bryner, Royal (Missy) Minear, Matt (Julia) Ballard, Marcus (Amanda) Ballard, Eddie L Minear Jr, Mick Minear, Elizabeth A. (Brad Baker) Minear; grandchildren: Blake & Megan Dusenberry, Alonzo Wise, Dean & Hana Harper, Kellsie Bryner, Keenan Shorter, Kayle & Ashlee Minear, Matt Jr. & Miah Ballard, Destiny & Addisun Ballard, Jaiden Minear, Elijah Minear, and Cameron Baker; great-grandchild Damauri McCaw; sister Beatrice "Sis" Minear; brothers Ken, Chuck, & Jerry Minear; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth June Minear, granddaughter Kyleigh Harper, and special girlfriend Stacy Westin.
