E. Harold Granholm, age 95, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at his home. Ernest Harold Granholm was born December 20, 1911, to Carl and Maria (Johnson) Granholm in Moline, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed as a Sheet Metal Worker for John Deere Harvester Co in East Moline, IL for over 37 years, retiring January 1972. Harold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, and Trinity Services Up-N-At-Um group. He was a life-member of the Rock Island County Historical Society; a life-member of Elks Lodge #556 in Moline; a member of VASA Noble Lodge #288 of Moline; the V.F.W.Post #8890 of East Moline; a life member of AMVETS Post #145 of East Moline; and American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Arrangements are being handled by the Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wendtfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Historical Society. Harold is survived by a close cousin: Michael (Patty) Malmstead of Moline; several other cousins; and long-time friend, Jeff Mann of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents.
