Douglas Charles Hendricks

Douglas C. Hendricks, 78, of Marion, IA, formerly of Moline, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Summit Point Senior Living, Marion, IA.

A funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, with a visitation from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral service, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL. Burial will follow in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

Memorials can be made to the Cornbelt Running Club, Davenport, IA.

Douglas was born in Moline, IL, on September 27, 1943, the son of Kenneth and Betty (Ohlweiler) Hendricks. He was a graduate of Moline High School class of 1961, and he graduated with a master's degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University. His first job was working at a Quad Cities favorite, Country Style Ice Cream. After graduating from Iowa State as an electrical engineer, he worked for RCA, Motorola, Siemens in Arizona before establishing most of his career with the Rock Island Arsenal. After 30 years, he retired as a GS-13. He was a member of the Cornbelt Running Club.

He had a passion for running, often running in the Bix several times and several marathons around the country. He loved to travel around the world and especially enjoyed his time spent overseas with his jobs during his career.

Survivors include his son Brian Hendricks of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Debbie (James) Reep, Marion, IA; a grandchild, Atheana; six nieces and nine great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Betty Hendricks,

The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Avalon Hospice and two special nurses from Kindred Care , Kay and Danielli from Florida.
