Dorothy Ross Lochrie, age 71, of Moline, IL, died on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. The the body has been donated to science and as an organ donor. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD MONDAY, JUNE 16TH AT 3:00 P.M. AT THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH IN MOLINE, IL. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Dorothy Ross was born in Moline on November 26, 1936, to Eugene and Lois (Lawson) Ross. She graduated with the Moline High School Class of 1954, and attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. She later graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, in Education and Art. She taught at George O. Barr School in Silvis, IL, for one year. On September 27, 1959, she married Harold 'Scot' Lochrie at her home. Her greatest joy was raising their five sons. She was involved with them in Cub Scouts, as a Room Mother, as an active P.T. A. member, and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and also held the post of Cub Scout Roundtable Chairman for two years in the Illiniwek District. She loved music, especially Classical, and enjoyed playing the piano. She expressed her talent not only in music, but in art as well. She was a member of the Scottish-American Society, and a life-long member of the First Congregational Church in Moline. Survivors include: her husband: Harold; five sons and their families: Leonard and Lauren of Lowell, MA; Alan and Catherine, and son Richard, of Akron, OH; Robert and Wendy, and daughter Grace, of Centralia, MO; Peter and Kerstin, and children Samantha, Jake, and Tucker, of Woburn, MA; and Arthur and Natasha, and daughter Jzasmeen, of Berwytn, IL; a sister: Caroline Cook of Lincoln, MA; and a special friend, Mark Smith of Rock Island, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
