Dorothy M. Roth, 91, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, January 12, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. No sevices will be held. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Backus, MN. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home of Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Blood Center. Dorothy M. Fox was born in Cincinnati, IA, on January 3, 1918, to Vernon and Nellie (Church) Fox. On October 14, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI, she married Robert Roth, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1978. Dorothy loved to read, and enjoyed oil painting, making braided rugs, knitting, crocheting, games, crossword puzzles, and playing the piano, the mandolin, and the banjo. She taught herself Caligraphy, and, at age 89, taught herself to use the computer. After the retirement of her husband, they moved to Backus, MN and enjoyed the lake life. Survivors include her children: Stephen (Patricia) Stevens of Breckenridge, TX, Karen (Fred) Herrick of Panhandle, TX, Robert W. Roth of Moline, Maureen Ferguson of East Moline, and Gay (David) Hamm of Edina, MN; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a granddaughter, Amy.
