Dorothea M Hyink-Hill

Dorothea Hyink-Hill of Edina, MN, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Dorothea M. Swanson was born in Moline on May 25, 1911, to Franz and Emma (Mueller) Swanson. On August 20, 1935, in Moline, she married Clifton F. Hyink, who preceded her in death in 1969 after 34 years of marriage. She later married Colonel John B. Hill who also preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Kuschmann. Dorothea was a graduate of Moline High School, and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, IL, and for many years, taught at Moline High School in the Business Department. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, Katherine Butterworth Circle of Kings Daughters, and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She enjoyed travel, bridge, and her many friends. Survivors include: a daughter: Karen (Nick) Rogers of Edina, MN; a son: Cliff (Sherrill) Hyink of Thousand Oaks, CA; a granddaughter: Kimberly Rogers of New York, NY; three grandsons: Jeff Hyink of Hanford, CA, Chad Hyink of Quincy, CA, and Derek (Stacy) Rogers of Edina, MN, and four great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arrowhead Ranch. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Moline.
