Doris Roberts, 81, of Silvis, IL, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Visitation will be Friday, March 12th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Saturday, March 13th, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis. Memorials may be made to Moline Rainbow for Girls Assembly #22. Doris Hazel Bly was born in Burnside, IL, on October 21, 1928, to Frank and Nona V. (Doty) Bly. She was married to the Reverend Robert M. Birdsell, who preceded her in death. On April 27, 1973, in Moline, she married Ellis Roberts, who resides in Silvis. She was an Activity Therapist for the State of Illinois, and was employed by the East Moline Mental Hospital, and the East Moline Correctional Center, retiring in 1990, after 25 years. She belonged to the Geneseo Country Club, where she was an avid golfer. Doris was a diehard Cub fan. In addition to her husband, survivors include, her children: Dr. David Birdsell, and Dr. Grady (Jan) Birdsell, all of Moline, Dr. Darlos (Dr. David) Cauble of Huntington Beach, CA, and Dr. Esther (Gary) Dragovich of San Pedro, CA; sisters: Mabel Plank, Juanita Griffith, Mildred Bainter, and Anna McClintock, all of Macomb, IL; grandchildren: Shaun Dickerson, Dr. Melissa Birdsell, Emily Birdsell, Jami Gordon, Kate Birdsell, Kelsey Birdsell, Amber Cauble, Crystal Edwards, Ian Cauble, and Justin Birdsell; and eight great-grandchildren. Doris loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was so very proud of all of them. She was preceded in death by three brothers.
