Donald Hudson

Donald Hudson, 80, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services. Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Also per his wishes, a dinner for family and friends will take place at a later date to celebrate his life. Don was born April 4, 1934, in Muscatine, IA, the son of Hazel and Sid Hudson. He married Donna L. Sellers on May 22, 1954 in Moline. He worked as a cement finisher for 42 years, last working for Goetz Construction prior to retiring in 1997. Don loved spending time in his garage, visiting with his buddies from the neighborhood, drinking a cold beer, and solving the problems of the world. He was an avid Bears and Cub fan and rarely missed their games. Don’s family was the center of his world and he loved them very much. Those left to celebrate his memory include Donna, his wife of 60 years; daughter Tammy (Ron) O’Meara Sr. of Silvis, IL; sons Kevin (Jodie) Hudson of Moline and Jay (Lisa) Hudson of Florida; son-in-law Bill Rose; six grandchildren: Tarra (Ryan) Smith, Jacob Hudson, Jared Hudson, JR Hudson, Tanya Roberson and Tawney Gibson; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him greatly. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Vicki Rose.
